Laser Fungal Nail Treatment

Fungal toenails, or Onychomycosis (big word) is one of the most common conditions that we see in our office. For most patients, the condition has been present for several years and they have tried multiple treatment options, including over-the-counter creams or polishes which are rarely, if ever effective. Some patients have even taken one or multiple rounds of oral antifungals, which can be harmful to the liver.

A new treatment option that we have recently implemented is using a medical-grade laser to provide clearing of fungal toenails. The HyperBlue laser that Dr. Futch uses is FDA approved for the temporary clearing of fungal toenails. This new and exciting treatment option is virtually painless and does not carry the risks involved with taking oral antifungal medications. Although as with oral antifungals the results are not instantaneous, the long-term outcomes of laser fungal nail treatment are quite remarkable.
